Today I brushed off the dust that had accumulated on my 50mm 1.4 lens sitting on the shelf and I took my lovely husband for a detour down some dirt road miles from our home. I had an idea…. not 100% positive on what I was going for but I knew once I saw it. If you knew me 2 years ago, you knew that I was one for adventure and clicking away with my camera. But what happened since then? That’s a really good question. A lot of things happened within those two years, and amidst it all, I had set my camera and my desire somewhere out of sight. I’m thankful for that time though. I challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone, to see people for who they truly were, to be present in moments with strangers, to truly engage with those who weren’t like me. I learned to love, to serve, to see people the way God sees each and every one of us- as equals, beautiful and unique, and as His adopted children.
